Production Log - Week 2
What I have learnt about social realist codes and conventions in relation to the audience is that what is happening in the film is directly targeted at the audience, for instance when there's a powerful moment that's denotes the true harsh life of a person, this is targeted at the audience to give them a sense of traumatic depression and feeling making the moment so much more powerful, this is with all the conventions of a BSR film such as setting locations and colours, the lighting and colours can do this by giving a dark and gloomy image , such as low saturation and a grey colour Platte and this can give and effect to the audience of sadness, but this can also relate to the audience because it shows the typical working life of some in the Uk so people from th Uk can relate to the film, and all the conventions above can help make the audience relate to the films.

This will help with my production because will try to portray the events of real people and put it into my film, which it hopefully have a realistic impact upon the audience. Films such as 'Adulthood' gave inspiration and influence to me which will help me when I come up with my own BSR film idea as it has interesting themes throughout the film and I will try to incorporate this into my film as much as possible but also giving new ideas to make my film a lot different from 'Adulthood'.I will conform to the conventions of the BSR genre as it is essential as then it wouldn't be considered a BSR film anymore, the conventions that could change are things such as themes as there's a huge variety of themes inside the BSR genre, this is the same with things such as where it is set, it can be anywhere In the Uk but it has to be in the Uk.
I will most likely try and not subvert the conventions of the BSR genre as it will hinder the experience of the film and it would most likely make the film overall worse and less exciting to watch, so having more conventions would make the film a more interesting, experience. There is once Convention thou that can not be changed and it has to be in every BSR film or else it wouldn't be a BSR film. This is the real depiction of average British workers in a daily life, this is essential as the whole genre is based upon this.
